The origin of Bharath Group started with the Bharath Beedi Works Pvt. Ltd, and goes back to the year 1930 in the town Karkala. Sri B. Manjunath Pai, who was seventeen years old then, rented out a small shop in front of the Venkataramana Temple. Sri Manjunath Pai rolled beedies with his own hands by night and sold them during the day, in and around Karkala. The only capital he had to speak of was thirty rupees by the way of money and a bicycle.
Due to the supreme confidence and unshaken faith Sri Manjunath Pai had in himself and his capability and the sincere hard work he put in, he has built this company, bit by bit, to make it what it is today.
